Description
No. 80 Chrysanthemum Piping Tip — 9 mm Curved Slit, Small, Seamless 304 Stainless Steel
No. 80 is the tip behind multi-layered chrysanthemums and piped succulents. Its opening is a deep curved slit rather than a ring of teeth, so the buttercream leaves the bag as a narrow, curved petal with a defined edge and a fine point. Stack those petals in tight, offset rings and the flower builds itself — dense at the centre, opening outward, with the layered depth of a real bloom.
What you can pipe with it
- Chrysanthemums — offset rings of short petals build a dense, many-layered flower
- Succulents and echeveria — the same technique reads as fleshy leaves
- Floral cake toppers — pipe the bloom on a nail or a square of parchment, then lift it onto the cake
- Zephyr meringues and cupcake tops — a soft ruffled edge in a single pass
Specifications
No. 80 or No. 61 — which petal tip do you need?
Both are curved-slit petal tips, and both pipe flowers. The difference is the size of the slit and what it is shaped for:
- No. 80 — 9 mm slit (this listing). The deeper, narrower slit builds tight layered blooms: chrysanthemums, succulents, dense multi-petal flowers
- No. 61 — 11 mm slit. The wider arc pipes looser, flatter petals: roses, peonies, ranunculus. See the No. 61 curved petal tip
Most decorators end up keeping both — one for tight layered flowers, one for open petals.
Why seamless 304 stainless steel
- Drawn from a single piece — no welded seam for icing to collect in, and no joint where corrosion starts
- The slit is cut cleanly, so petal edges stay sharp instead of feathering
- Heavy-duty wall that holds its curve instead of splaying open with use
- Uncoated, so there is no surface layer that can wear off
