A small chrysanthemum petal tip with a 10 × 1 mm crescent slit opening, in seamless 304 stainless steel. The curved slit releases icing as a thin curling ribbon, so each petal overlaps the last with a soft, natural edge — ideal for chrysanthemums, layered flower petals, roses and ruffles. Compact size S — 25 mm tall on an 18 mm base — for precise control on cupcakes and small cakes. Wholesale from 12 pcs per SKU; custom logo and packaging from 500 pcs.

Description

A crescent slit tip for chrysanthemums, roses and layered petals

The No. 401 is a crescent slit petal tip: the opening is a curved slit, so the icing comes out as a thin, curling ribbon instead of a rope. That curl is what builds a layered flower — every petal overlaps the last one with a soft, natural edge.

It is a compact size S tip, made from seamless 304 stainless steel in one drawn piece with no welded seam. Small means the flowers stay in proportion on cupcakes and small cakes, and it gives you fine control over petal placement. Manufactured in our own factory in Yangjiang, China, and available for wholesale, OEM and private label.

What you can pipe with it

  • Chrysanthemum-style flowers — layer petals in rings, working inward, for the flower shown on this page.
  • Roses and other layered blooms — the curved edge gives each petal a soft, natural curl.
  • Ruffles and frills — pipe a gathered edge around a cake or cookie.
  • Small flowers and cupcake toppers — size S keeps the proportions right on small bakes.
  • Buttercream, royal icing and bean paste — works on both soft and firm mediums.

For straight, teardrop-shaped petals instead of curled ones, compare the No. 104 rose petal tip. For a larger curved petal for full-size cakes, see the No. 124K curved petal tip. Our full petal and flower tip range can be mixed in one order.

Who buys it

Bakeries, cake studios and florist-style buttercream artists who build flowers petal by petal, plus distributors and e-commerce sellers who need a compact flower tip in their assortment. It is also a common classroom tip because the size S flowers finish quickly for beginners.

Frequently asked questions

What is a crescent slit tip used for?

It pipes curved, curling petals. The slit opening presses out a thin ribbon that bends as you turn the bag, which is the movement behind layered flowers such as chrysanthemums and roses, plus ruffles and frills.

What is the difference between a crescent slit tip and a teardrop petal tip?

A teardrop petal tip has a straight opening and produces a flat, straight petal — see the No. 104. A crescent slit tip has a curved opening, so each petal comes out with a curl and the finished flower looks softer and more layered.

What size flowers does the 401 make?

This is a small (S) tip, so it suits small and medium flowers — cupcake toppers, cookies and the top of a small cake. For full-size cakes, step up to the No. 124K large curved petal tip.

Does it fit standard piping bags and couplers?

Yes. It seats on a standard medium coupler and works with standard reusable or disposable bags.

What is the minimum order?

12 pcs per SKU as a trial quantity. Mixed-SKU orders can be combined from 120 pcs, and tier pricing starts at 1,000 pcs.

Can you print our logo?

Yes. Laser engraving or silk-screen printing from 500 pcs, with your own retail packaging if needed.
