Description
No. 103 Fine Rose Petal Tip — Straight Teardrop Orifice, Small, Seamless 304 Stainless Steel
No. 103 is a small rose petal tip with a straight teardrop opening. The mouth is a smooth, tapered oval — no teeth, no slit — so the buttercream leaves the bag as a soft, rounded petal with a clean point. Work those petals in offset rings and you get a rose with fine, natural-looking layers at a size that suits cupcakes, small cakes and floral gift boxes.
What you can pipe with it
- Small roses — layered petals for cupcakes, mini cakes and toppers
- Peonies and ranunculus — the tapered petal builds the soft, cupped outer petals of fuller blooms
- Tulips and buds — a narrow petal curls into a closed bud
- Fine ruffles — a controlled edge on meringues, petits fours and borders
Specifications
No. 102 or No. 103?
Both are straight teardrop petal tips in the small range — the difference is size. No. 102 is the micro tip for miniature roses and the smallest blossoms. No. 103 is one step up, for standard small roses, peonies and ranunculus. See the No. 102 micro rose petal tip
For looser petals, curved-slit tips work differently: the No. 61 curved petal tip pipes open rose and peony petals, and the No. 80 chrysanthemum tip builds tight layered blooms.
Why seamless 304 stainless steel
- Drawn from a single piece — no welded seam for icing to collect in, and no joint where corrosion starts
- The teardrop orifice is cut cleanly, so petals stay smooth instead of ragged at the edge
- Heavy-duty wall that holds its shape with stiff buttercream
- Uncoated, so there is no surface layer that can wear off
