Description
No. 104 Rose Petal Piping Tip — 13 mm Straight Teardrop Orifice, Small, Seamless 304 Stainless Steel
No. 104 is the widest of the straight teardrop petal tips. The opening is a smooth 13 mm oval — no teeth, no slit — so the buttercream leaves the bag as a soft, rounded petal with a tapered point. Overlap those petals in offset rings and the rose builds outward with the layered, slightly open look of a real bloom rather than a piped swirl.
What you can pipe with it
- Roses — layered petals for realistic open roses on cakes and cupcakes
- Peonies — wide, cupped petals for full ruffled blooms
- Ruffles and borders — a smooth, controllable edge on meringues and cake sides
- Roses for gift boxes and toppers — make them on a nail or parchment, then lift them onto the cake
Specifications
No. 102, No. 103 or No. 104?
All three are straight teardrop petal tips in the small range — the size of the opening is what changes:
- No. 104 — 13 mm (this listing). The widest. Roses with realistic open petals, peonies and ruffles
- No. 103 — small teardrop. One step down for small roses and fine petals. See the No. 103 fine rose petal tip
- No. 102 — 9.5 mm (micro). The finest. Miniature roses and the smallest blossoms. See the No. 102 micro rose petal tip
If you pipe roses at more than one size, most decorators keep two of the three.
Teardrop tip or curved petal tip?
The straight teardrop opening pipes petals with a rounded body and a tapered point. A curved-slit tip pipes differently: the No. 61 curved petal tip cuts a wider arc for looser petals, and the F4 closed rose tip uses a rayed construction for a different rose finish.
Why seamless 304 stainless steel
- Drawn from a single piece — no welded seam for icing to collect in, and no joint where corrosion starts
- The teardrop orifice is cut cleanly, so petal edges stay smooth and pointed
- Heavy-duty wall that holds its shape with stiff buttercream
- Uncoated, so there is no surface layer that can wear off

Three sizes in this family
The straight teardrop petal tips come in three opening sizes. All three share the same smooth oval opening and pipe petals with a rounded body and a tapered point — only the size of the flower changes.
| Model | Opening | Height | SKU | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| No. 102 micro | 9.5 mm | 30 mm | WL-N102 | Miniature roses, buds, jasmine, macaron toppers |
| No. 103 fine | 10 mm | 31 mm | WL-N103 | Small roses, peonies, fine ruffles |
| No. 104 (this listing) | 13 mm | 29 mm | WL-N104 | Roses with realistic open petals, peonies, ruffles |
No. 103 is only 0.5 mm wider than No. 102, so if you pipe at one small size only, pick either and step straight up to the 13 mm No. 104 for larger work. Mixed containers are accepted, so all three sizes can ship in one order.
